Nikau Farm represents Dane and Hannah Johns' personal venture within Momento Mori, featuring wines that are meticulously grown, crafted, and bottled from their family vineyard in Gippsland, Victoria. These wines receive a considerable amount of time, labor, and commitment.

My recent passion for Pinot Noir prompted a deep dive into the pursuit of truth and transparency concerning the influence of place, soils, and vines. This ardor has naturally extended to all the varieties we cultivate.

In the quest for transparency, certain decisions became paramount. Foremost among them was the deliberate exclusion of oak, regardless of its age. Equally important was the commitment to add nothing to the wines and to refrain from any manipulation during the winemaking process.The resulting wine, I believe, speaks volumes for itself. It stands as a truly elegant and complex expression with remarkable cohesion and restraint. Its fine mineral structure reflects the quartz granite from which it draws its roots, and its overall energy is nothing short of vibrant.
