Josephine

Gut Oggau

Burgenland, Austria

Josephine by Gut Oggau is a bold and vibrant lady, cultivated from a stunning 30-year-old plantation featuring the rare Rösler grape, grown in limestone-rich soil.

Rösler, a resilient variety developed in the 1960s, is known for its resistance to both fungus and frost. Primarily found in Burgenland, it yields wines with robust fruitiness, pronounced tannins, and an intense color profile.

The grape clusters are meticulously destemmed and undergo spontaneous fermentation in barrels of varying sizes: 500L, 1000L, and 1500L. Following an 8-month maturation period in used 500L barrels, this distinguished lady is bottled without batonnage, additional sulfur, embellishments, or filtration.
